Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Sharon and Mark's engagement shoot at Point Addis. I was beyond thrilled for the opportunity to capture such a special moment in their lives, but I have to admit, I was also incredibly nervous. I’ve worked with many couples over the years, but this was my first time shooting an engagement session, and I really wanted everything to be perfect and extra special for this lovely couple.

Despite my nerves, I was determined to create something beautiful, so I arrived early to scout out the perfect spots for our shoot. As soon as Sharon and Mark arrived, my excitement kicked in, and we started the session off with some close-up photos of her ring and the couple embracing as they were a little camera shy I wanted to ease them into taking pictures and build up their confidence in front of the camera. I couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement as I captured their love for each other through my lens.

But as we continued with the shoot, the weather started to become a bit of a challenge. The wind was so cold and biting, I know it doesn’t look like that in these warm-toned photos but by the time we were leaving my fingers and face were almost frozen. The sky was temperamental, one minute sunny, and the next pouring with rain. However, this didn't stop us from getting some amazing shots. Sharon and Mark were both absolute champs and didn't let the cold and windy weather dampen their spirits and neither did I. They kept each other warm with cuddles and kisses, and I captured some beautiful moments that I know they'll cherish forever.

Later on, we were pleasantly surprised when the sun decided to make an appearance, and I took full advantage of the brief moments of sunshine to capture some breathtaking photos of the couple. It was such a relief to have some beautiful lighting to work with, and it gave me a chance to experiment with different angles and poses. I absolutely live for playing with sunlight in my images!

I'm always looking for ways to push my creative boundaries and capture something unique and special for my clients, every shoot poses its own challenges and its own opportunities to grow. And in this case, I was excited to see how the changing weather conditions presented not only a challenge for me to solve but new opportunities to create something truly magical, this couple can really say they love each other through rain, hail or shine!

As we moved to another location to prepare for the sunset, the rain started to pour heavily. After checking the weather radar and having a quick discussion, we decided it was best to call off the rest of the shoot. The couple had a dinner reservation that evening, and we didn't want to risk getting completely soaked.

Even though the rain cut our shoot short, we still captured an incredible amount of beautiful photos. I felt so much excitement and pride when I looked through the pictures later on. Editing the photos was an absolute joy, as I loved playing with the contrast between the blue rain clouds and ocean and the warm sunshine that lit up Sharon's gorgeous hair and makeup. Delivering images in colour, black and white and even some with a grainy film effect. It added such a beautiful, colourful feeling to the images, and I couldn't be happier with how they all turned out.

Overall, the shoot was a great reminder of the importance of adaptability in photography. Working with unexpected weather conditions can be tough, but with flexibility and problem-solving skills, creating amazing memories and photographs is always possible.

Working with Sharon and Mark was an incredible experience. Despite the challenging weather, their love for each other shone through in every photo we took. It's an honour to have been able to capture such intimate and beautiful moments between them.
